After securing a second term as the President of the United States, Donald Trump has taken action against several lawyers and employees working under the Department of Justice. The question being raised is whether Trump is resorting to vengeful actions. The answer appears to be yes, as he has fired dozens of attorneys and staff, abolished the entire Special Counsel team with a single signature, and removed senior advocates across various divisions.
The reasons for these actions are not without context. These lawyers had previously worked against Trump, particularly during the tenure of former President Joe Biden, when Trump faced numerous criminal cases. Trump was involved in several legal battles, including the hush-money scandal and criminal investigations, which required him to appear in court. He was even arrested in connection with a payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, in relation to the 2016 hush-money case.
Trump became the first former U.S. president to be arrested under criminal charges. The allegations include efforts to keep his relationship with Stormy Daniels a secret during the 2016 presidential elections. To conceal the affair, he allegedly arranged for his lawyer to pay Daniels a large sum of money. Daniels later claimed that Trump paid her $130,000 to remain silent.
The Manhattan criminal court found Trump guilty in this case, and he was arrested. Following this, Trump has now targeted the attorneys and employees who had worked against him in these cases. He issued orders to Attorney General James McHenry to remove Special Counsel Jack Smith and other prosecutors who worked alongside him. The Attorney General's office confirmed that Jack Smith had already resigned from his position. For more on international news, visit Vaartha.
