Discussion on Budget Starts Today in AP
The Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget sessions have commenced, with discussions focusing on key issues like agricultural electricity connections, school infrastructure, and employment for tribal youth. The state’s budget for this fiscal year has crossed ₹3 lakh crore, marking a significant milestone. The budget includes provisions for welfare, development, and the implementation of state promises.

Amaravati: The budget sessions of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly will begin today. A discussion on the budget will start in the Legislative Assembly from today. Initially, the assembly will pay tribute to the late Rajasekhar of Palavalsa. The discussion will focus on various issues including the construction of school compound walls, electricity connections for agriculture, digitization of Waqf property records, DSC notification, and ITDA in Srikakulam district. Ministers will respond to questions on topics such as employment for tribal youth, Godavari Pushkarams, crimes against women and children, drug abuse, and the maintenance of irrigation canals in the Godavari delta.
Meanwhile, the first day of the budget discussion will take place in the Legislative Council. In today’s question-and-answer session in the Legislative Council, issues such as irregularities in the Pulivendula housing scheme, port construction, sale of APIDC shares, land allocation for the poor, and a special package for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant will be addressed. Ministers will also respond to questions on issues like viral outbreaks affecting poultry, misuse of funds in Mandal Parishads and Gram Panchayats, free bus travel for women, revenue summits, and the Aarogyasri health scheme.
It is noteworthy that Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented the first full-scale budget after the formation of the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh on Friday, amounting to ₹3,22,359 crores. This is the first time the AP budget has crossed the ₹3 lakh crore mark. The agriculture budget, presented by Agriculture Minister K. Achennayudu, stands at ₹48,341 crores. The budget reflects extensive efforts aimed at welfare, development, and the implementation of promises, with a focus on achieving the "Swarna Andhra 2047" target.
