The Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC SHAR) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, is preparing for its 100th launch. After completing a successful mission in 2024, ISRO is set to begin 2025 with another milestone. The countdown has begun for the 100th launch from the Sriharikota Space Center. The GSLV-F15 rocket is scheduled to be launched on January 29, 2025, at 6:23 AM, marking the 100th launch from SHAR, as confirmed by former ISRO Chairman Somnath.
The first launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Center took place on August 10, 1979, when the SLV 3E-1 rocket attempted to launch the Rohini Technology Payload, though it was unsuccessful. However, the next two launches were successful. Out of the 99 launches conducted by ISRO from SHAR, only 9 were failures. The successful launches included 129 domestic satellites, 433 foreign satellites, two private satellites, one Gaganyaan test vehicle, and 18 student satellites.
In December 2024, during the Spadex mission, ISRO conducted the 99th launch with PSLV C-60. During this launch, ISRO made history by docking two satellites in space, becoming the fourth country in the world to achieve satellite docking capabilities. As ISRO celebrates this achievement, it is now gearing up for the 100th launch from Sriharikota, marking another significant milestone for the organization. For more updates, visit Vaartha.
